NBA Tip-off Challenge (2019)

Comic Con is a huge opportunity for marketing. Our client knew that and wanted to use this platform to generate hype for the next NBA season. So we were tasked to come up with a way to get the word out as well as interact with the guests at Comic Con.

Role: UX/UI Design

Platform: Interactive installation

Challenge: Encourage attendees to interact and share their content.

Solution: A fun, interactive experience that generates an easily shareable video that also announces the upcoming NBA season.

Tools: Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop.

Timeline: 2 weeks


The Experience:
Tip off against some of the NBA’s top players and have it captured and converted in a comic-style video that can be shared through social media.

The Journey:

  • Guests wait in line for their turn to tip off against some of the NBA’s top players.
  • When guests reach the front of the line, the staff member greets them and instructs them to step up to the jump pad that will measure their air time.
  • Their goal is to be the at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the day to win exclusive Comic Con merch.
  • Guests are then asked to chose who they’d like to tip off against by selecting the player on the touch screen in front of them.
  • After the guest have made a selection, the screen counts down and prompts them to jump.
  • After they’ve made their best efforts at jumping, they’ll be directed to the share station where they’ll interact with a tablet set to display the video that was just created for them to share.
